OFF-Negroni Week, Hurricanes & Sustainability
Over here, Negroni Week is a thing. It is sponsored by the brand that has come to define the cocktail (C_____I) & preaches for creativity and fun takes on the classic (as long as you always use C_____I).
Remixing the RAT PACK
There is possibly no single spirit more synonymous with a cult classic cocktail than Drambuie to the Rusty Nail. Drambuie is a honeyed, herbal Scotch Whiskey Liqueur, dating back to Bonnie Prince Charlie. It shot to prominence with the Rat Pack in the 1960s and their thirst for the cocktail.
What’s the FOUR ONE ONE?
Answer: A virtuoso mobile bar hire service from us here at Behind This Wall, operating out of 411 Mare St!
Ryuichi Sakamoto - 5 CUT TRIBUTE
We lost a real one this week. A composer across genres, time and space. Sakamoto has always been a favourite of the team at the bar; as a small tribute, Cami has put together 5 favourite cuts from the maestro.
C.M.Y.K.
2022 marked 10 years of Behind This Wall. The bar only came into being in 2016, prior to that we shape-shifted through London’s outer-rings of music, drink and design. Knitting the story together as we went was the iconic workings of Shutupandance, helmed by David Matos. This collaboration between David and Alex is the cornerstone of what’s been built (and taken apart) over the past decade. To toast this landmark the two of them sat down for a chat to piece together this legacy in conversation and images.
CAMI ON THE LOT RADIO
Our Resident Jock - Cami - went to NYC for Hallowe’en and did a guest show on The Lot.
HALLOWE’EN MIXTAPE
Alex and Lewis have mangled together a Hallowe’en mixtape for your terror. Sifting through their respective collections to zoom on zombied pop and occult oddities.
PARTY SEASON
From Hallowe’en to New Years and everything in between, we’ve got you covered.
A Mezcal Martini
Not sure how this isn’t a thing? Claiming primacy here (cc. Simon Difford) - “cheers” to Ian and “you’re most welcome” to the rest of you…
BTW is 10!
10 years ago to the day, 3 mates with a blog threw a party on a roof in Hackney…
Last Waltz
Blended Irish Whiskey for the base, crème de banane (use a nice one, please!) for the maraschino, lemon in for lime and Green Chartreuse to tie it all together on the nose.
Easter Weekend parties & raising donations for Save The Children
For Good Friday and Easter Saturday we are gonna be lowering the decks from 9pm and running late with a pair of parties to shake into Spring in style!
All DJ donations on the door will be matched by the bar and donated to Save The Children via the Arsenal Vision Podcast
Suprette
Wind back 12 months and, you’ll no doubt recall, the steep second wave of corona was receding with a relaunch date for hospitality on the horizon. At the time we saw this more as a ‘grand opening’ mark II than a restart. Everyone had been through so much and the world-at-large was altogether so different it felt more like a new beginning than picking up where we had left off. With that came more challenges than opportunities: would our audience be the same, how had the area changed, people’s habits would have inevitably shifted, what would people be willing to spend when going out?
